IDOT – Van Buren St. Bridge Reconstruction at 90/94/290, Jane Byrne (Circle) Interchange

Tecma is currently serving as the Prime Consultant providing Phase III Engineering Services for this $25 Million Project, which is scheduled to be completed in the Spring of 2019.  Work includes removal and replacement of the existing bridge structure over I-90/94, widening and lengthening of the bridge over the J.F. Kennedy Expressway, a new concrete soldier pile retaining wall along I-290 WB ramp between Van Buren Street and Halsted Street, lighting, ITS, landscaping, and aesthetic improvements & enhancements to the existing Greek Town Plaza.

Illinois Tollway – I-90 at Barrington Road Interchange

Tecma is currently serving as the Prime Consultant providing Phase III Construction Engineering Services for this $35 Million contract, which is scheduled to be 100 % complete in the Fall of 2017.  The project includes reconstruction & reconfiguration of Ramps A, B, C, C1, D1, D; construction of new ramps E, F, G, H; reconstruction/widening of Barrington Road from Hassell Road to Central Road; and widening of Barrington Road from Higgins to Hassell Road.  Scope of work also included construction of two shared use path spurs, new Toll Plazas and Buildings on Ramps D, F, and G; construction of parking lot for Plaza 10 and Communication Tower; lighting and traffic signals, relocation of NSMJAWA 30” water main, drainage, MSE walls, overhead sign structure, segmental concrete block wall, prefabricated control building, three sided precast concrete structures, and erosion/sediment control work.

IDOT – Reconstruction of WB I-290 Auxiliary Lanes from Peoria to Racine, Jane Byrne (Circle) Interchange

Tecma is currently serving as the Prime Consultant providing Phase III Construction Engineering Services for this $35 Million project, which is scheduled to be completed in the Spring of 2018.

The project includes WB I-290 expressway auxiliary lane construction, retaining wall/noisewall construction, electrical work, installation of a new drainage system including 78 inch main drain, lighting, ITS, and water main construction.  Project challenges included extensive coordination with abutting contracts/CDOT/CDOWM/UIC, and safely performing retaining wall construction/main drain installation in very close proximity to existing buildings.

IDOT – Taylor St. Bridge Reconstruction Over 90/94, Jane Byrne (Circle) Interchange

Tecma served as the Prime Consultant providing Phase III Construction Engineering Services for this $19 Million project, which was completed in the Spring of 2017. The project included removal and replacement of the existing Taylor Street Bridge, retaining wall construction, hydro-scarification/latex overlay of the Taylor Street entrance ramp to NB 90/94, painting of the Roosevelt Road Bridge over 90/94 and Taylor entrance ramp, new traffic signals/lighting/ITS, roadway reconstruction, drainage work, sidewalk/C&G/driveway reconstruction, landscaping, signage, and pavement marking installation.

Project challenges included maintaining safe traffic flow on arterial streets & 90/94, and extensive coordination with abutting Circle Interchange contracts, ComEd, OEMC, CDOT, CDOWM, and UIC.

IDOT – Peoria St. Bridge Reconstruction Over I-290/CTA Blue Line, Jane Byrne (Circle) Interchange

Tecma served as the Prime Consultant providing Phase III Construction Engineering Services for this $27 Million project, which was completed in the Spring of 2016.  Work included bridge removal and replacement with pre-cast concrete deck panels/UHPC/latex deck overlay, roadway reconstruction, Peoria CTA station rehabilitation, retaining wall construction, new barrier wall, drainage work including siphon reconstruction, electrical work, and landscaping.

During this project, Tecma staff developed strong, professional working relationships with key project stakeholders including the various IDOT/CDOT Bureaus, CDOWM, CTA, UIC, and area residents/property owners.  Tecma personnel successfully managed project specific challenges including extensive coordination of lane closures/CTA single track operations with abutting IDOT contracts, and constant coordination with CTA/DOR for station rehabilitation work performed under this contract.

IDOT – Morgan St. Bridge Reconstruction Over I-290/CTA Blue Line, Jane Byrne (Circle) Interchange

Tecma served as the Prime Consultantproviding Phase III Construction Engineering Services for this $20 Million project, which was completed in the Spring of 2015.  Work included bridge removal and replacement, approach work, the installation of a removable temporary pedestrian bridge required to open up the Morgan CTA station during construction, underpass and roadway lighting, retaining wall construction, traffic signal installation, water main work including installation of a riser shaft, drainage work, and landscaping.

Through the work on this contract, Tecma staff developed strong, professional working relationships with key project stakeholders including the various IDOT/ CDOT Bureaus, the Chicago Department of Water Management, CTA, the University of Illinois at Chicago, and area residents/property owners.  Tecma personnel successfully managed project specific challenges on this contract including installation of micropiles due to the presence of numerous existing underground utilities, extensive coordination of lane closures with abutting IDOT contracts, construction vibration& settlement monitoring due to proximity of condominiums/UIC buildings to the project, and extensive coordination with ComEd/Meade due to the presence of a live electrical duct package attached to the Morgan Street Bridge which remained in place throughout the duration of construction.

IDOT – Jane Byrne (Circle) Interchange-wide Landscaping Projects

Tecmaprovided Phase III construction engineering services for this $2 Million project, which was completed in the Spring of 2017.   Work included retaining wall/knee wall construction, earthwork, sidewalk removal & replacement, irrigation system installation, and landscaping including tree planting throughout the limits of the Circle Interchange.  Project challenges included extensive coordination with abutting contracts, UIC, CTA, and CDOT.

 

 

IDOT – Pump Station #24 Reconstruction, I-190 at I-294

Tecma, along with its joint venturepartner Stantec, provided Phase III construction engineering services for this $20 Million project, which was completed in the Spring of 2014.   Work included the installation of a new drainage system, and extensive site improvements (including retaining wall construction and expressway ramp improvements).  The reconstruction of the IDOT Pump Station # 24 building and equipment included demolition and material removal, concrete work, structural steel, reinforcement bars, glass block and masonry work, doors and frame, single ply roofing, sheet metal work, and painting.  The improvement also included mechanical work consisting of removal of existing pumps including motors, fabricated metal, bowls, impellers, heating and ventilation equipment, piping for recirculation system and electrical distribution, control, instrumentation, intrusion, conduit and wiring, electrical work including a new electric service to the facility, incorporating new exterior transformers, and modification of the existing Supervisory and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System.

IDOT – I-190 Resurfacing From O’Hare Airport to I-90

Tecma served as the Prime Consultant providing Phase III Construction Engineering Services for this $5 Million Pay for Performance project, which was completed in the Fall of 2013.  The project included mainline milling and resurfacing of 4 miles of Eastbound and Westbound I-190 with SMA.  The project also included milling/resurfacing of several entrance/exit ramps to/from Bessie Coleman Drive, Mannheim Road, River Road, and NB/SB I-294.  Other work included pavement patching, induction/detector loop replacement, the removal and replacement of 700 ft. of slotted drain, removal/replacement of concrete curb and gutter, adjustment/reconstruction of drainage structures, installation of aggregate shoulders, rumble strip installation, drainage structure/storm sewer cleaning, and pavement marking/RPM installation.  Through the work on this contract, Tecma staff developed strong, professional working relationships with key project stakeholders including the various IDOT Bureaus, the Chicago Department of Transportation, the Chicago Department of Water Management, the Village of Rosemont, the Chicago Department of Aviation and OMP, CTA, and the Illinois Tollway.  Tecma personnel successfully managed project specific challenges on this contract including Stone Matrix Asphalt (SMA) production/installation, completing the project on schedule despite restrictive working hours due to the proximity of the project to O’Hare Airport terminals, and extensive coordination of work/lane closures with abutting Tollway contract RR-11-4089 (Reconstruction of I-294 NB ramp to River Road/WB I-190).Tecma also coordinated daily with O’Hare/OMP personnel and abutting IDOT Contracts (Cumberland Avenue and Mannheim Road Reconstruction Projects).

IDOT – IL 21 Reconstruction from IL 120 to IL 137, Lake County

Tecma served as the Prime Consultantproviding Phase III construction engineering services for this $25 Million contract, which was completed in the Spring of 2014.  Advance work included installation of temporary HMA pavement, drainage work, tree removal, and construction of detention/retention basins.  Mainline work included removal and replacement of the IL 21 bridge over Bull Creek, the construction of several retaining walls, box culvert installation, construction of a new pedestrian underpass, two miles of pavement reconstruction, detention/retention basin construction including installation of wetland sod, water main work, sanitary sewer work, a new closed drainage system, and new traffic signals/lighting.  Through their work on the IL 21 project, Tecma staff developed strong, professional working relationships with key project stakeholders including the various IDOT Bureaus, the Lake County Stormwater Management Commission, the Soil & Water Conservation District of Lake County, the LCDOT, the Lake County Forest Preserve District, the Village of Libertyville, Libertyville Township, and area residents/business owners/schools.  Tecma personnel successfully managed project specific challenges on this contract including extensive coordination with private utility companies (including North Shore Gas, ComEd, Comcast, and AT&T), extensive coordination with the LCFPD for the construction of a new pedestrian underpass, maintaining safe access for numerous businesses/private residences during the staged construction of both IL 21 and IL 137, and providing remediation for poor soil conditions.
