IDOT – Morgan St. Bridge Reconstruction Over I-290/CTA Blue Line, Jane Byrne (Circle) Interchange

Tecma served as the Prime Consultantproviding Phase III Construction Engineering Services for this $20 Million project, which was completed in the Spring of 2015.  Work included bridge removal and replacement, approach work, the installation of a removable temporary pedestrian bridge required to open up the Morgan CTA station during construction, underpass and roadway lighting, retaining wall construction, traffic signal installation, water main work including installation of a riser shaft, drainage work, and landscaping.

Through the work on this contract, Tecma staff developed strong, professional working relationships with key project stakeholders including the various IDOT/ CDOT Bureaus, the Chicago Department of Water Management, CTA, the University of Illinois at Chicago, and area residents/property owners.  Tecma personnel successfully managed project specific challenges on this contract including installation of micropiles due to the presence of numerous existing underground utilities, extensive coordination of lane closures with abutting IDOT contracts, construction vibration& settlement monitoring due to proximity of condominiums/UIC buildings to the project, and extensive coordination with ComEd/Meade due to the presence of a live electrical duct package attached to the Morgan Street Bridge which remained in place throughout the duration of construction.
